Abstract
Nasal cavity is a host to wide variety of tissue types and hence a myriad of pathologies. Of these, sinonasal tumors are considered rare entities; those arising from nasal salivary glands more so. Extra-oral pleomorphic adenomas have certain characteristic distinguishing features as compared to their oral counterparts. These include a higher cellular content and equal gender predilection. Here we present a rare case of nasoseptal pleomorphic adenoma of minor salivary glands that showed a markedly erosive nature. The patient presented with a large nasal cavity mass causing obstruction. Grossly, the tumor was found to have a polypoid, fleshy appearance. Complete erosion of cartilage and bony part of nasal septum was seen. Through this report, we highlight the relevance of salivary gland tumors as a differential diagnosis for erosive nasal cavity lesions. Also, we summarize the ways in which these tumors differ from their oral counterparts.
